We have received official confirmation from HSE Public Health that vaccination against Meningitis B & Rotavirus will be added to the Primary Childhood Immunisation Schedule for all babies born on or after October 1st 2016.
Men B & Rotavirus vaccines will now be given as part of the 2 month and 4 month vaccinations.
It should be noted however that no agreement has been reached with GPs for the provision of these extra services at a time when general practice is stretched to breaking point. However, we hope that issue will be dealt with before October and we welcome the addition of these vaccinations to the schedule.
How this will affect availability of the MenB vaccine for children born before 01/10/2016 remains to be seen. At the moment we are unable to order any stock of the vaccine.
Anam Cara Galway, an organisation that supports bereaved parents, will hold its next monthly Parent Evening on Wednesday 2nd of May from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Clayton Hotel, Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit, Galway.
Finally, we are back up and running almost as normal.
We have no heating and no carpets but phones are back.
We do have a bit of a backlog of appointments to get through but we're getting there.
