Lighthouse Psychology Clinic

Lighthouse Psychology is Galway City's newest private psychology clinic.

Clinical Director, Dr Clare Kambamettu is a Registered Clinical Psychologist living and working in Galway. Founded in 2015, the clinic is currently accepting referrals and enquiries for appointments at Galway Bay Medical Centre.

Our Philosophy

Clare's practice is largely informed by two major beliefs; the first is that mental health is not just about problems, it is about learning to take care of ourselves in the best way possible whether we are experiencing a mental health problem or not. In the same way that we care for our physical health through diet and exercise, Clare believes that we need to learn how to care for our mental health on an everyday basis. The second belief that informs Clare's practice is that people have within themselves the resources to be happy and effective in their lives.

She believes that through the application of evidence based psychological interventions, client's can tap into their resources to learn coping skills, increase self-understanding, improve their decision-making and problem solving to create such a life.

Clare has worked with a variety of different client groups including adults and children with mild to moderate symptoms of mental health difficulties as well as with people with more severe, enduring and complex problems.

In addition, she has also worked with forensic populations, adults and children with intellectual disabilities and adults with addiction problems.

Clare incorporates her knowledge gained through these experiences with her knowledge of evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to assess, diagnose and treat a range of mental health issues including depression, generalised anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, adjustment disorders, social anxiety, health anxiety, addiction, low self-esteem and eating disorders among others.

As well as working with clients on a one-to-one basis Clare has also designed and facilitated group psychological interventions using mindfulness, relaxation, stress reduction, psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy model.
