On 16 January 2017, we will implement some changes to our fee schedule.
Since we opened our doors in 2008, Galway Bay Medical Centre has offered a top-quality healthcare service in a state-of-the-art, city centre surgery with an always-expanding menu of services.
As the complexity of problems presenting to our doctors increases, so does the expectation that we can safely manage 95% of those problems without the need for onward referral.
This means that our doctors are spending more time than ever following up on test results, organising referrals, liaising with hospitals and other teams on your behalf, researching new testing, treatment and management options, and maintaining clinical excellence in each of the hundreds of conditions that we regularly encounter. In addition, we are under pressure to ensure we provide enough same day GP appointments to safely meet the demand for time with a GP.
We have fought to keep our prices as fair and affordable as possible, while still ensuring we maintain our first rate service.
In fact, we have not increased the cost of a GP consultation since the day we opened almost 9 years ago.
We have reached the point where this has to change.
Our pricing structure has to reflect all of these demands on our time and resources, so that we can continue to provide excellent medical services without compromise.
Anam Cara Galway, an organisation that supports bereaved parents, will hold its next monthly Parent Evening on Wednesday 2nd of May from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Clayton Hotel, Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit, Galway.
Finally, we are back up and running almost as normal.
We have no heating and no carpets but phones are back.
We do have a bit of a backlog of appointments to get through but we're getting there.
